TO THE CITIZENS AND VISITORS OF THE BOROUGH OF VERONA:

A warm welcome from the Verona Police Department. It is my distinct honor to serve as your Chief of Police and to lead a dedicated team committed to the safety and well-being of our community.

Our department is privileged to serve a population of approximately 2,500 residents and visitors. Our primary mission is to ensure a safe environment for everyone while fostering a strong, positive partnership with the people we serve. Central to this mission is maintaining an open and transparent line of communication between our officers and the community.

To that end, I am excited to announce the launch of our new website. It is my hope that this online resource will serve as a vital hub for information. We will use it to share important updates on public safety matters, including recent incidents and emergency alerts, as well as to highlight the many fun and positive activities happening throughout our borough.

Please remember, the Verona Police Department is here for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you require immediate police assistance, see something suspicious, or are witnessing a crime in progress, please call 911 immediately. Our officers are proactively patrolling our neighborhoods and are not typically stationed inside the police building. Dispatching through 911 is the fastest way to get an officer to your location and is the most effective way for us to keep our entire community safe.

Finally, I firmly believe that the best police department is one that evolves with the needs of its community. Your feedback is essential. I encourage you to reach out to me directly with your ideas, concerns, or suggestions on how we can continue to improve our service to all persons—be you a long-time resident, a new visitor, or a local business owner. Together, we can make Verona an even better place to live, work, and visit.

Sincerely,

Thomas Dessell
Chief of Police
